These locations do not require a general admission ticket, but parking, special programs, rentals, or nearby attractions may cost money. Verify current access before leaving.
Six named options
- Clinch Park and the bayfront: use the city’s parks information for current rules. Downtown parking may be paid.
- Bryant Park: a city park and beach; facilities are seasonal and posted rules control.
- West End Beach: a city waterfront stop; verify parking and park rules.
- Boardman Lake Loop Trail: consult TART Trails for current maps, closures, and trail notices.
- Traverse Area District Library: general library entry is free; programs, rooms, and services have their own policies. Check TADL.
- Downtown and Boardman River walks: sidewalks and public riverfront segments can form a free outing, but use marked public routes and obey closures.
Important exception
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is not a blanket “free scenic drive.” Review the NPS fee page; entrance fees apply in covered park areas, and ferry, camping, or concession costs are separate.
Free event components also vary. Confirm the exact activity on the organizer’s current schedule rather than assuming an entire festival is free.
