The Betsie River Pathway winds through some of Benzie County's most peaceful terrain, following the gentle curves of the crystal-clear Betsie River. This well-maintained trail takes you past towering hardwoods, through quiet meadows, and alongside pristine riverbanks where herons fish in the shallows. The relatively flat terrain makes it perfect for families with young hikers, and your four-legged companions will love splashing in the shallow crossing points. Pack a picnic and plan to linger at one of the scenic overlooks—the river's sandy bottom creates an almost tropical blue-green hue that seems impossible for Northern Michigan.
